Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) feeding on Standing Cypress (Ipomopsis rubra)

Ruby-throated Hummingbird feeding on Standing Cypress.   This is the only hummingbird native to Missouri.    The standing cypress is usually found more to the Southwest, but the hummingbirds like it, so I plant a bit each year.   It is a biennial that only lives for two years and only blooms in the second year.

No tricks or shortcuts with this photo.   I just parked by a clump of the Standing Cypress and waited for some action.
