Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) June 8, 2016

Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor)

The tree swallows are numerous on our farm this summer.    They will nest more densely than the bluebirds.    Both species will use the same type nest boxes.   The tree swallows eat primarily flying insects, while the bluebirds mostly trap insects on the ground.   I took this photo this morning.   This guy was taking a break on a perch near one of the frog ponds.
