Mink Fall 2015

I have a few game cameras that I put up around the farm to see what is happening at night. I caught this creature on video this month.   I was not sure if it was a weasel or something else.   I submitted the video to the Missouri Conservation Department ombudsman and they told me it was a mink.   Mink sounds much more cool than weasel.    This particular pond had lots of muskrats earlier in the summer and fewer now.   Minks do like to eat muskrats, so he may have thinned the population down.   I hope no one traps “my” mink for a coat.
